Anyone read this magazine? Most of the stuff is pretty cool, though repetitive I think. A lot of 'hot rods people wanted to use everyday' which reads like 'I have money and want to jump in on this whole rat rod thing but need an excuse to do it.' Great photographs though.
The real reason that I care about the magazine is the '28 Pontiac with a spinning dorito for a heart. Also cool, one of the cars, I can't remember which, sports a V10 which traces it's roots back to the venerable SBC and a HOt Rod with an inline six (once again I can't remember which one, I only flipped through at the grocery store, which, yes, I probably should have bought it to support a magazine that treats cars like the deserve a beautiful shoot instead of the point and click which seems to be industry standard, but, hey my mom always said this thing about money and trees that boiled down to you can't just grab random shit off the shelves at the grocery store on the way to the checkout, and I like to think I learned her lesson well). Though they did refer to the rotary as powering an ex-girlfriend's car, which, I mean… I'm just gonna bail here before I sound whiny or sexist.
Overall, I'd say it's definitely worth a look, if only for the detail shots of sue truly magnificent, er, details(?).

I've flipped through one as well. It didn't do much for me since I'm not a huge "rat rod" fan. I'm more into the true traditional built rods and customs but rat rods get tossed into that category when they shouldn't because there is rarely anything traditional about a rat rod. I still read street rodder, rod and custom, hot of deluxe, and sometimes ol skool rides if its not rat heavy.

Thd thing I liked, though, is some of these rods, like the V10 Ford Tudor (I think) had some great detail work that most rod builders don't seem to care about. Also, I liked that it wasn't just V8 after V8, with over half SBCs. The rat rod thing does get wearing after a while though. I just wish more magazines lavished the cars with the photography this magazine does.

Yeah older mags are stuck in the rut in terms of the photography aspect. I'm a die hard Chevy guy so the sbc in cars has never bothered me but I can get tired if I see the same dress up on multiple sbc. There are many things that make the sbc stand out. I like seeing rods with alternative v8s like early olds rockets, flatheads of the ford or caddy design, Lincoln v12s, Buick nailheads, 348-409 Chevys, early baby hemis etc. but then again I'm getting into traditional rods. I do get a chuckle on the cover saying no candy ass cars but I bet most are trailer babies

And it's great they came out with a magazine like this. At least you don't see the same car dif color with all the same stuff on it. Lol.
